A Certain Kind: Discipleship Essentials
Trust
Proverbs 3:5-6
Hurt has the potential of hindering your growth and trust in Christ because Christians are tempted to put God into similar relationship formulas.
Isaiah 58:11"The Lord will guide you always; He will satisfy your needs..."
Psalm 32:8 "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you."
Ephesians 2:10 "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
Proverbs 3:5-6 New International Version (NIV)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
Deny your self-sufficiency
- God will always be on the side of those who love him and trust him fully.
Romans 8:28 “and we know in all things God works for the good of those who love him., who have been called according to his purpose”
Demonstrate a God-dependency
- Take personal inventory of every part of your life and bring
self-managed portions under the rule of Christ.
Depend on God’s direction
- Your life matters because Christ says your life matters.
- Make the tagline of your life- “ #YoufirstGod, #I’llfollow”
