The older covenant was never God’s final solution (Jer. 31:31-34). It highlighted human fault (Dt. 29:4; Jer. 31:32; Lk. 19:43-44; Acts 6:13-14).

“Copies” and “shadows” point to things that must be greater.

The New Covenant replaced the Older Covenant and his name is… JESUS

The New Covenant fully explains what Christianity is all about …

• a better covenant with better promises all mediated by Jesus

Why the New Covenant is better …

1. An Inside Operation (8:10)

- Christians actually get a new heart (Ezk. 11:19)

- Jesus fixes us from the inside out

2. A Highly Intimate Reality (8:11)

-“They will know me”

- God actually moves in – takes up residence to ensure his covenant goes forward in our lives.

3. Founded on Forgiveness (8:12)

-“day after day” – couldn’t cleanse guilty consciences (9:9)

- “Once for all” – set free from guilt over past sins (9:11-14); conscience cleansed (14)

- The New Covenant in “my blood” (Lk. 22:29)

Jesus has done what you can’t do; given you supernatural power to trust in his salvation–keeping ability and freed you to worship.
