Hold On Hang In
Hold On: Discipleship Mandate
Hebrews 3:1-4:3
Above all, reduce your risk of unbelief!
Grace is not a vaccination against sin’s damage; it is more a taste-for-sin suppressant.
Common characteristics of those, who follow Jesus into the heavenly presence of God…
1. They “fix (focus)” their thinking on Jesus as the chief example of faithfulness (13:1-6a)
Let his way of life fully occupy your thinking
2. They “hold on” – Faith is an action initiated by the Holy Spirit and intentionally put into daily operation (3:6b)
Although we are dependent, we are not passive.
3. They “see to it” that sin is never allowed to move to unbelief, to move to hardness, to move to rebellion (3:12–16)
When Jesus provided purification for sins, he defeated Satan’s power over you.
4. They welcome and offer spiritual health attention in community (3:13)
“The body of Christ is an essential sanctifying tool of God” (P. Tripp)
At risk –> Falling short of God’s rest! (3:19–4:3)
