Some circumstances find us out of our league, out of control and powerless. We need someone else to deliver us! What can we learn from this text?

1. Demons are real.

• We discount the existence of demons at our own peril.
  
• Demons are evil angels who sinned against God and who now continually work evil in the world.

2. Demons torment.

• They don’t exist to make life better.
• Sin might seem attractive in the moment, but ultimately it will torment and destroy you.


3. Demons are very powerful.

• More powerful than man
• We fool ourselves if we think we can defeat the devil and his angels on our own.
• Don’t make the mistake of thinking you can ‘handle it’.


4. Jesus is more powerful than the strongest or most numerous of spiritual forces.

• Demons fear Jesus.
• Demons need Jesus permission even to enter into a herd of pigs.
• Jesus can provide complete deliverance, healing and restoration.
• Jesus’ power and holiness is frightening

Reponse:

1. If God has not yet saved you;

• Respond to His offer of salvation and acknowledge Jesus as your Lord and Saviour.
• Jesus has saved you from the powers of darkness and you now live in the light.
• Respond by telling your story.
• Tell the people in your life what Jesus has done for you.

We are powerless – Jesus is powerful – Respond to Him today!
